Following on from my recent Catachan Additions post, where I showed off two models that I added to my army for a narrative weekend, I thought I should show off the rest of the models that I added to the force.
These models are one of my favourite parts of the Astra Militarum – the Tempestus Scions.
Now I had 5 Tempestus Scions already painted as part of my force, but I wasn’t completely happy with them.
I didn’t want a drastic change as that would mean a complete repaint. Instead, I changed the colour of the fatigues slightly and the guns and backpack so they didn’t look so black.
This is not exactly the same squad, as to help identify between the units, I have put all Scions with grenades on their belts into one squad, all Scions with canteens in another and any other items I could use to identify them.
In total, I was able to take twenty Scions. One squad of 10 to start on the board and two 5 man squads that I could deep strike in later on.
With the The unit of 10 starting on the board, I needed to make sure that they could get around:
Originally my plan was to take 1000 points of Scions in a mobile force, this meant that I was going to need some heavy hitters. For this Bullgryns are the obvious choice.
And they needed a way to get around as well…
Lastly with my planned mobile force, I wanted something that kept with the theme of being Tempestus Scions but also mobile and packing some long range fire power. I decided to Scion-up a Scout Sentinel.
All this needed was to match the colour scheme and then using a driver’s head and shoulder pads from the Taurox kit, I was able to make this a Tempestus Scion Sentinel.
With these additions, my Hobby Bingo is beginning to fill up!
