Age of Sigmar – The Beginning

With the new edition of Age of Sigmar soon to drop, the idea has been floated at my local gaming club to start an escalation league.

In order to take part, players need to put together a 500 point army.

I’ve been meaning to get into Age of Sigmar and my original plan was to get involved in some Warcry. This may be the moment to kick start my AoS journey.

I’ve been steadily collecting the Mortal Realms Magazine so I have a healthy collection of Stormcast Eternals and Nighthaunt to put together and slap some paint on.

I’ve decided that out of these two forces, I’m going to go with the Stormcast Eternals.

I wasn’t sure what colour scheme I should go with, but in the end I settled for the Anvils of the Heldenhammer. My second choice was the Hammers of Sigmar.

As I had picked up the original AoS boxset, I’ve got some duplicate models in the form of Liberators, Persecutors, Retributors and a Lord Relictor.

Putting these together actually gets me just shy of my 500 point target.

I decided therefore that I’d paint these as Anvils of the Heldenhammer and then if I didn’t like the colour scheme, I could paint my other models as Hammers of Sigmar.

After several evenings of painting (mostly as I have been jumping between different models and not focusing on the squad) I have now finished my first unit for the Anvils of the Heldenhammer.

All that’s left now is a lightning transfer for the shoulder pad and some static grass for the bases, but they will come at some point in the future.

All in all, I like the look of these Liberators, so for the moment I will stay with the Anvils of the Heldenhammer as a colour scheme.

It will be interesting to see how many other players at the club pick Stormcast Eternals for their army.

Hopefully I’ll be the only one with the Anvils of the Heldenhammer.
