As some of you may know, I’m quite a GW fanboy. GW was my introduction to the worlds of table top wargaming and no other miniature game has managed to grab my interest like a Games Workshop release.
But Games Workshop are not without their flaws, and while I can understand and forgive most of them, there is one policy that really grinds my gears; the missing scenery…
For reasons unknown to me, Games Workshop has a policy of removing their scenery kits from their website without any notice.
This really annoys me as usually a kit I have been meaning to purchase is just no longer available. This would be fine if you could still find the kits in GW stores or FLGS, but that’s impossible as the items are all GW Online Exclusive.
It’s even more annoying when GW have a last chance to buy section that the kits never make it into.
I can understand if they don’t want to let on that kits are being replaced (such as the Promethium Relay Pipes or the Sanctum Imperialis kits) but most of the time there isn’t a replacement (Aquila Strongpoint).
As the feature image of this blog post shows, the Firestorm Redoubt is no longer available and sadly I never got round to ordering one. This has now lead me to purchase the other Wall of Martyrs kits that I planned to get in future so that I don’t also miss out on those too.
Maybe that’s why GW do it, to make idiots like me panic buy?
Interestingly, the Wall of Martyrs: Imperial Bunker is out of stock on the website. Is that going to disappear or are they just waiting for new stock? How comes the Firestorm Redoubt didn’t get the same treatment?

I hope GW plan to bring the Wall of Martyrs kits back one day. Recently they have just re-released the Warscryer Citadel for Age of Sigmar (it may have originally been called something else) so I suppose it is possible. But on the subject of Age of Sigmar, a game that is only a few years old, scenery kits that were released around the same time have also disappeared.
Doesn’t seem to make sense.

It is sad to see the kits go away without notice, especially if you had something planned and needed them. Guess I’ll just need to build up my remaining cityfight ruins to use.
