This weekend sees Games Workshop return to the Ricoh Arena in Coventry for their annual Warhammer Fest.
For the first time since they’ve put on Warhammer Fest, I will not be attending, as unfortunately, I am playing in a Warhammer 40k tournament on the Saturday and as much as I would like to spend my entire weekend surrounded by this awesome hobby, there is no way I’ll get permission from the misses.
So that means I’m probably going to miss out on some big announcement or something, or an awesome freebie for everyone who attends…
That’s just my luck.
Anyhoo, the point of this post is what I think will be announced at Warhammer Fest this year.
Apparently, there are rumours of a Primach’s return in 40k. I’m not convinced that this will be the case as, I think Alpharius is available for 30k from Forgeworld for the first time that weekend.
There is also the matter of this week’s Rumour Engine:
Now that looks very Orky/Squigy to me. Add that to the fact that next month’s White Dwarf will feature the refight of Last Stand at Grazer’s Creek (a classic battle of a small Imperial Guard force against waves of Orks) makes me think that Orks could well be on the horizon.
The most compelling evidence for me however is when you look at the event exclusive merchandise:
You’ve got mugs and t-shirts for what appear to be new releases, including Alpha Legion, Van Saar, Khorne and Shadespire (you could link those to the new Khorne warband for Shadespire) and then there are two Ork mugs and two Ork t-shirts.
Seems slightly odd unless there is going to be some new Orky goodness coming very soon.
Anyway, that’s my two cents. Let me know what you think any potential announcements could be about.
