It’s been a few days since my last post as I’ve been kept quite busy by a brood of Termagants…
I have never had an interest in Tyranids, but after reading the step by step guide to painting them in the How To Paint Citadel Miniatures book, I thought that they would be a good place to start my hobby plan.
I’m not going to list either the steps that I did or the paints that I used as all of this information can be found in the book mentioned above. I can’t recommend this book enough for any painter – throughout the entire Christmas period I was itching to paint!
The only places that I deviated from the book, was when I felt I couldn’t quite get to the eyes on some of the miniatures so I left them out and on edge highlighting on the carapace.
I know that by using edge highlighting, I could make the miniatures look even better, but I’ve never been a fan of it as from experience, I normally make the models look worse.
In the future, I may revisit them but I think that for the moment, they’re finished.
It’s worth mentioning that these are probably the first “completed” miniatures that I have painted as these are the first ones that I have ever based. I think that basing miniatures definitely adds a finished quality to them.
Let me know what you think.
Looking good. The ‘How to..’ guide is great. I quite fancy giving the Tyranid guide a go myself at some point.
Thanks and thanks for reading. I’m pleased with how they’ve turned out and I hope to paint more Tyranids at some point. Maybe in smaller batches next time!
