2026 – Da Plan

It’s a New Year, and that means new possibilities and new beginnings. It’s time to forget the failures of last year and think positive thoughts.

So what do I want to achieve this year?

  • Blog more – at least one post per month
  • Complete 2026 Hobby Bingo
  • Focus on the Pile of Shame and not buy a load more models!
  • Play more games!
  • Read 3 Warhammer Novels

I think this is a do-able list to achieve this year.

The Blog

This blog got neglected for most of last year so I’m going to aim to keep it a bit more regularly updated. It helps to have content to show and write about, so a hobby bingo will help give me something to write about. If I aim for one blog post a month, that doesn’t sound too difficult and with this post, I’ve already completed my first month!

Hobby Bingo

For the Hobby Bingo,  I’ve got a lot of models that are near to completion from last year. I’ll spend a bit of time on these models to get them finished up. I’ve got a deadline to meet for a narrative event in February, so that’s my current focus before returning to these models.

Pile of Shame

For the past 2 years I’ve kept track of my hobby spending. This has been great as I’ve seen just how much money I’ve pumped into this hobby. My garage is full of plastic that I’ve done nothing with and it’s been a real eye opener for me. I’m going to continue tracking my spending, but I’m going to give a real effort to not spending too much on hobby this year. I’ve got tons of Space Marines, Necron and Tyranid models waiting to be built. With 500 Worlds arriving soon, I’m keen to paint up some Ultramarines but also really want to build up my Necron force. Maybe a campaign with the new rules will be in order. I can even start a 500 Points for 500 Worlds project.

Gaming

On the gaming front, I’ve got the usual tournaments to look forward to but also a Narrative Event in February. I’ve submitted my Army list for the event so the immediate focus will be getting these models ready (will also tick off some Hobby Bingo Boxes!). This is going to be a weekend of non-competitive gaming so I’m really looking forward to this. I’m taking my Astra Militarum so it will be useful to get some practice games in, as I’m still new to the army.

At the tail end of last year my interest was also peaked by Kill Team, there’s some interest down the gaming club so hopefully this takes off later in the year and I’ll get a few games of this in.

I’m going to make use of the Tabletop Battles App to keep a track of the games that I play. By the end of the year I’ll have a decent record to look back on. Hopefully my win rate will improve!

Reading

A few years back, I subscribed to the Hatchette Partworks – Warhammer 40,000 Legends book series. I’ve got 100 books from this collection and most haven’t been touched. I’m not the biggest reader but its something I would like to do a bit more of. 3 books shouldn’t be too hard to do in a year, but if I achieve this I can aim for more in the future.

I hope your new years have started well. What hobby plans do you have for the year?

Thanks for reading.
