2025 Plans

So here we are in 2025, and that means a new plan for the new year.

So what am I planning to do this year?

Well first up is to try and not to buy many new models this year. I spent quite a bit last year on new shiny things, so I’d like to make a real effort in getting some of those built and painted. I quite liked keeping a record of my hobby purchases, so I might continue with that this year again.

I felt that last year, I didn’t build and paint as much as I should have, nor did I blog and keep a good record of the models I had finished. This year then, I’m planning on bringing back the Hobby Bingo to hopefully keep me on track. You never know, I might finally finish that Stompa!

I’ve got two painting projects for this year on the go already. First is some reinforcements for my Necromunda Goliath gang. I’m taking part in a campaign from the end of January and I really need a couple more Juves and a champion wielding a heavy stubber! Secondly, there’s a group of us starting a Boarding Actions campaign, based on the Badaab War. I’ve got a force of Mantua Warriors to paint up. It’s only twelve models so hopefully won’t take too long.

On the gaming side, I want to play some of the games that I got into last year. I like to start Deadzone down my gaming club so might try and ease some players into that with Halo: Flashpoint.

At the very least, I want to start my solo journeys in Star Grave and Five Parsecs from Home.

I’m a really big fan of terrain and for me, it really makes the game. Although there is a tactical element regarding terrain, it’s the story telling that it does for me. It’s not just a battle between two forces, it’s a fight to control a vital outpost or a valiant fight to hold a mountain pass. It’s no surprise then, that I have quite a sizeable terrain collection. I’m always seeing lots of new kits and coming up with new ideas for cool battles.

The problem is, I never get the time to fulfil these ideas, I’m either having to focus on a tournament or getting hit with analysis paralysis, as there is too much to get built and painted in order to play the games that I want to play.

So to help me get to the gaming table quicker, I have taken the plunge and bought myself a Battle Systems Frontier set. It’s a set of pre-printed cardboard modular terrain and my hope is that it will allow me to quickly get into the skirmish Sci-Fi games that I’ve been longing to play.

Now I just need to get that built and get my crews finished!
