This weekend I am once again partaking in First Founding’s 40K Doubles Tournament.
Last year I built and painted 1000pts of Tau just so that me and my mate Kanan could bring double Tau to the tournament. Things did not go to plan, and after zero practice games with a brand new army, it was no surprise that we came last (by no small margin either!)
So this year what better way to learn from the previous year’s mistakes by once again bringing double Tau?
But surely this year will be different? Well we can’t do as bad as last year, can we?
And what better way to prepare ourselves than by playing zero practice games! In fact, the last time I played Tau was… (checks notes) the last doubles tournament!
This year, I know it will be different. We’ve got a new version of 40k, we’ve got fewer stratagems, and less confusing army rules. And if the experience of last year’s tournament taught me anything, is that a Tau army needs Crisis Suits. So this year, I’m bringing 7 of them!

These guys were an eBay rescue, meaning I got more suits for my money and even a commander!

After a dip in Paint Blitzer, a few repairs and a couple of additional guns, these guys we ready to join the greatest of goods.
While not my best work (like the rest of my Tau) I’m really pleased that I’ve got them ready in time.
It’s nice to have little projects, and it helps to have an event to motivate you to get them finished!
Looking great Neil. Can’t wait to see them on the tabletop later today!
Those look great.
Cheers,
Pete.
